This Could Be the Love of a Lifetime

                                                                                                                                              Robert Wills

I met a friend who'd spent some time on the other side

I asked him what it's like, to find himself alive

He said, "It's like a dream, which never quite comes true,

A riddle with no answer, and an ever-changing set of clues."

     Said he's had some time to do some thinking,

     Still, he's got a long, long way to go,

     He looked inside his heart, and he heard a bird there singing in the nighttime,

     Singing, "This could be the love of a lifetime"

I met a man who said he'd sailed the world around

I asked him if it's true, the Chinese walk upside down

He laughed, and said, "Some things, you'll never need to know;

The simple and the obvious, the things which seldom show."

     Said he's had some time to do some thinking,

     Still, he's got a long, long way to go,

     He looked inside his heart, and he heard a bird there singing in the nighttime,

     Singing, "This could be the love of a lifetime"

I met a child, who said she'd known me long ago

I said, "If this is true, could you kindly tell me more?"

She said, "A glimpse of Truth is all we get to see;

A little bit of me in you, a bit of you in me."

     I oughtta take some time to do some thinking,

     I know, we've got a long, long, way to go,

     I listened to my heart, and I heard a bird there singing, in the nighttime,

     Singing, "This could be the love of a lifetime"

     "This could be the love of a lifetime"...
