El Dorado

                                                                                           Robert Wills   November '74

I was born with a searching soul

That is trying to find El Dorado

Searching high, and I've been searching low,

And I've been trying to find El Dorado

In my dreams I have walked those streets

That were paved with gold, El Dorado

Streeet lights shone like a thousand suns

In the city of gold, El Dorado

El Dorado, El Dorado, City of Gold, El Dorado

El Dorado, El Dorado, Cite' D'ore', El Dorado

The mayor met me at the gates of the city

And he gave me three keys of gold

The first one opened up the doors of my mind,

Second and third ones, I sold

When I awoke, I was back in Squareville,

Wishing I had stayed in El Dorado

Since that day, I have tried every way

Just to find my way back to El Dorado

(chorus)

Once a hobo gave me three free tickets

On the silver train to El Dorado

I thought he was foolin', and I threw them away,

And then I started to dream of El Dorado

Last December I was nearly dying,

I was hearing the bells of El Dorado

The doctor came, and he brought me back to life

And now I dream every night of El Dorado

(chorus)
